Artemese Carhee-Hickman is a life-long Louisianian and resident of DeRidder. She is honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve you and also be your voice in our dear city. She is a servant and visionary leader who has devoted herself to serving the needs of the great community of Beauregard Parish. For the past thirty years, Artemese has been allowed to serve and lead as a Family Advocate for Beauregard and Calcasieu Parishes. She has worked with Head Start Center as Parent Educator and Mediator. She was also employed with LSU AgCenter, and the Physical Therapy Office Manager for Beauregard Hospital. Artemese is a state-licensed and certified Family and Divorce Mediator. She has served and was elected as The Greater Beauregard Chamber of Commerce President 2020. Her heart for the betterment of our community is quite evident. She is a devoted member of Grace Church and serves as a staff Minister/Mediator and Outreach Director. Artemese is the Director of Soul Soup, a community kitchen successfully established for fourteen years and has been awarded “The Hope Against Hunger 2020 Award”. This outstanding initiative raised $10K to feed the homeless and veterans in Beauregard Parish. At Soul Soup, Artemese manages and coordinates volunteers and organizes counseling sessions while providing over nine hundred hot meals to the community each month. Artemese and her husband Stephen enjoy outdoor activities, traveling, and spending quality time with their six children and grandson.
