Come out and watch the all the action of “Freezin’ For A Reason” this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the West Park Pool! Registration has closed for event participants and “supporters-only,” however, you can still come watch, visit organizations’ tables and yes, make a donation directly to an organization, if you choose. Once again, spectators are welcome! It’s free and open to the public. Some of the non-profits participating will have informational tables. Be sure to stop by and learn more about these organizations that add so much to our community! Scanning Saturday is Feb. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Beauregard Museum, 120 South Washington Street, downtown DeRidder. The museum is looking for your old photos of Beauregard Parish. The museum has been building its historical database and archives with photos to round out local history. What they are looking for: Old photos from local families; images from the parish’s timber and sawmill industries; ones depicting DeRidder and communities including Singer, Longville, Merryville, Dry Creek and Sugartown; old school memories; photos from Beauregard Parish events through the decades; and more. You can bring them in, look around while you wait for the museum to scan a digital copy. The Greater Beauregard Chamber of Commerce has announced the 2023 DeRidder Mardi Gras events. Events will kick off Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Beauregard Parish Fairgrounds. A gumbo cookoff starts at 7 a.m. with public tasting as well as vendor shopping beginning at 10 a.m. There's free admission. Lewing DJ Services will be playing music under the pavilion. The DeRidder Mardi Gras Parade will begin at 5 p.m., with lineup starting at 4 p.m. The parade route will begin at the 1st Street/Hwy. 171 intersection and will end at Steamboat Bill’s.
