Disaster/CERT training opportunity set this month for residents

TRAINING FLYER

Local residents can take part in a free, 2-Day Disaster Preparedness Training opportunity on Saturday, Sept. 23 and Saturday, Sept. 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This preparedness training equips you to take care of yourself and your family during times of disaster. It also prepares you with the necessary skills to provide emergency medical aid, suppress small fires, and care for your family and friends.

This event will also provide an introduction to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) model for attendees interested in future volunteer trainings and opportunities. You do not have to be a volunteer to take this training, however.

Topics to be covered include: Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety & Utility Controls, Disaster Medical Operations, Disaster Psychology, and Community Resources.

Advance Registration is required. See the QR Code in the flyer. For more information, contact Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot, Volunteer Louisiana, at 225-342-3077 or by e-mail at HMFONTENOT@CRT.LA.GOV.

All training materials will be provided, as well as food and refreshments. Please wear comfortable shoes/clothing to participate in life-saving skills training exercises.

This is sponsored by the Office of Lieutenant Governor, Community Emergency Response Team and Volunteer Louisiana.
