DeRidder Police Department announces promotions

DeRidder Police Patch

The DeRidder Police Department held police officer promotions and swore in a new hire on Tuesday, March 14 at DeRidder City Hall.

History was made, said Police Chief Craig Richard, as nine officers were promoted March 14 — the most ever in one day.

Promoted were:

Patrolman to Corporal:

Cpl. Jed Irvine

Cpl. Timothy Robinson

Cpl. Marlon Holmes

Cpl. Jayson Creech

Corporal to Sergeant:

Sgt. Vinita Dewaine

Sgt. Jay Purdue

Sgt. Tracy Crouch

Sergeant to Lieutenant

Lt. Kristopher Pruett

Lt. Gene Clark

The new hire sworn was Shane Fruge, who previously worked at the department — last as a detective. Fruge returns to the city’s force after serving with the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Another personnel announcement was made —  Sgt. Thurman Buckley will be department’s Training and Standards Officer (TSO).
