Student art show

The RealArt DeRidder Gallery will feature the creative work of students at South Beauregard Junior/Senior High Schools throughout March. Stop by and enjoy the art these young people have created.

Jazz concert

Southwest Jazz will be joined by seven SWLA high school jazz bands in a free concert at 6 p.m. Friday, March 17 at the DeRidder High School Auditorium.

Pop-up art market

The RealArt DeRidder Gallery will have a pop-up art market across from Cecil’s Restaurant in downtown DeRidder from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 17.

Impromptu Players show

The Impromptu Players will present S.O.B. (Son Of A Bot) Story by Barbara Pease Weber during five showtimes in March at the Wooten Theater. Find ticket information at and on the Players’ Facebook page.

Saturday, March 18

Bluegrass jam

The “Third Saturday Bluegrass Jam” will be Saturday, March 18, starting at noon, at the Beauregard Museum. Come to play or listen. Acoustic, old-time fiddle music only. 

Tuesday, March 21

DAR meeting/art showcase

The Daughters of the American Revolution, Kisatchie Chapter, will meet at the Beauregard Museum at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 21. Guests will be the “Four Artists From The Neutral Strip” — Isabelle Massart-Bursh, Tony McDonald, Joey Governale and Rickie Smith. They will discuss their art and recent exhibit. Quilt Show

The Common Threads Quilt Guild Show will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 25 at the Beauregard Parish Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall. Entry fee for ages 12 and up is $5. Entry for ages 4 to 12 is $3, and kids 4 and under enter for free. There will be supply vendors, door prizes and more. The guild holds a show every two years.

‘Junk Journal’ workshop

The RealArt DeRidder Gallery will hold a “Junk Journal” workshop at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 26. Use recycled and found paper items to create a truly unique personal journal. Cost is $10 — you can prepay through PayPal Also reserve your spot via e-mail ( Bring small items to add to your journal.
