The Administration of the DeRidder Fire Department works daily to improve emergency response, general operations, community relations, fire prevention and training. As the Fire Chief Ken Harlow has overall responsibility of the department, his staff in administration provide necessary functions for overall operations of the department.
Deputy Chief serves as the next high officer of the department. He works directly with the Fire Chief on a daily basis for overall operations of the department. Deputy is direct supervisor over the Fire Prevention Officer, Training and Safety Officer and Shift Captains.
Secretary to the Fire Chief Jill Roberts serves as the documentation representative of the department. Secretary Roberts is responsible for departmental records, training records and takes care of responding to general emails and phone calls to the department.
Fire Prevention Officer Rena Toney manages the Fire Prevention Division of the department. Her Fire Prevention roles include all the public education the department provides and conducting fire inspections of local businesses for conformity.
Training and Safety Officer Micah Richard manages the Training Division of the department and works to address safety concerns within the department. As the department conducts over 5000 hours of training each year throughout its employees, Officer Richard assigns, monitors and documents the training required for each employee of the department.
